In 2024, the American Peanut Council launched a strategic allergy awareness campaign to promote early peanut introduction and build long-term demand in the Canadian market. Partnering with Food Allergy Canada (FAC), the initiative delivered expert-backed education addressing parental hesitation around introducing peanut products to infants, positioning U.S. peanuts as a safe, high-quality choice.
This campaign built on a longstanding partnership with FAC, which began in 2007. FAC’s trusted voice in allergy education helps reach parents with evidence-based guidance. Despite official recommendations from leading Canadian health organizations, many parents remain unaware or uncertain about early introduction. The campaign tackled this gap with digital content, expert advice and outreach to both parents and healthcare professionals.
Supported by a year-long, data-driven strategy, the initiative exceeded its performance goals and contributed to a 25% increase in consumer awareness since 2017. Between 2022 and 2024 alone, 4% more Canadians reported shifting their views on early peanut introduction. Through continued investment and collaboration, APC is helping to normalize early introduction practices—strengthening lifelong peanut consumption and export growth.
