On October 11, 2004, the American Peanut Council celebrated World Peanut Day in Mexico City with an event that creatively combined fitness, nutrition and U.S. peanuts. Held at The Padel Company, the event welcomed influencers, content creators and media for an engaging afternoon of sport, education and peanut tasting—highlighting the health benefits and versatility of U.S. peanuts and peanut butter. The day began with an introductory padel tennis session and friendly tournament, giving participants a hands-on experience that linked physical activity with healthy eating.
Nutritionist Esther Schiffman, a respected voice in Mexico’s wellness community, spoke about the nutritional advantages of including U.S. peanuts in daily diets. Guests also sampled a variety of sweet and savory peanut-based snacks and shared their experiences on social media throughout the event. The celebration wrapped up with a peanut-themed brunch and a small award ceremony, with attendees receiving gift bags featuring a jar of U.S. peanuts and an APC “Padel and Peanuts” t-shirt to encourage ongoing engagement.
This first-of-its-kind event in Mexico successfully connected U.S. peanuts to the region’s growing health and fitness culture. Generating 70 social media posts and reaching nearly 350,000 people, it reinforced APC’s strategy to position peanuts as a nutritious, on-trend food choice. By linking peanuts to active lifestyles and wellness, APC continues to build brand awareness and drive demand among younger consumers in one of its key international markets.
